Sri Lanka government winds-up the Ministry of Special Projects
Reducing the size of its jumbo cabinet the government of Sri Lanka has disclosed its plans to close-down the Ministry of Special Projects with effect from June 6, 2008.
The decision to close down the Ministry headed by Mahinda Wijesekara was published in the Gazette Extraordinary 1552/7 issued on June 2, 2008.
The Ministry of Special Projects has made little contribution to the country’s development during the past. The Minister Mahinda Wijesekara is scheduled to take over as the Minister of Posts and Telecommunication.
Mahinda Wijesekara is one of the 17 members of the Karu Jayasuriya faction crossed over to the government side from the opposition UNP.
