Thendamarachchi LTTE Area Leader Killed by Troops

Following information received from civilians, Army troops cordoned the area north of KAITHADY and conducted a search Sunday (20) around 4.30 p.m. to net a group of Tiger terrorists.

During the operation, terrorists fired at the troops and attempted to flee the area.

However, counter fire by the troops killed two terrorists including the THENDAMARACHCHI terrorist leader identified as CHENGAN.

Subsequent search recovered one T-56 weapon, one micro pistol, one suicide jacket, one GPS (Global Positioning System), a stock of T-56 and pistol ammunition, one mobile phone and one FM radio from the location.
