Jordanian Airlines stands by Sri Lanka


While some airlines have decided to pull out from Sri Lanka due to the crisis situation, at this moment of distress and uncertainty, at least there is one airline that has reiterated their strong commitment to Sri Lanka, and firmly assured that they will continue as they have done for the last 15 years..

Hussein Dabbas, Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Services, Royal Jordanian Airlines said that they are committed to the Sri Lankan market and plans to increase our operations by the end of this year. He was speaking at the occasion of celebrating their successful operations as a member of One world Alliance, held at Ceylon Continental Hotel, last week. They also made use of the occasion to felicitate their passenger and cargo operators.

10 sea tigers killed; 8 sea tiger boats destroyed - Mullaittivu

Naval patrol craft detected a cluster of LTTE boats heading towards Pulmudai from Nayaru in Mullaittivu last night, Friday the 04th of May.
Naval sources said that 26 LTTE sea tiger boats including 4 suicide boats were among the LTTE boat cluster detected at 11.30 p.m. yesterday.

Sri Lanka Navy Fast Attack Craft immediately confronted with the LTTE sea tigers and sunk two sea tiger boats defence sources said.


Further, six LTTE boats were severely damaged in the confrontation and LTTE sea tigers fled along with the damaged boats due to effective retaliation.
According to the defence sources 10 LTTE sea tigers were killed and 12 were injured.
Meanwhile, two naval personnel sustained minor injuries due to the confrontation.

INTELSAT BREAKS ITS WORD AND STILL BROADCASTING LTTE PROGRAMS

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Washington DC complained to the Justice Department and the State Department that the Washington based Intelsat Corporation is breaking US law by continuing to broadcast the propaganda television and radio services of the foreign terrorist organization Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) by a satellite they own despite public assurances given weeks ago to the contrary.

Embassy spokesperson Rajika Jayatilaka said in a telephone interview that she contacted David Synkfield, Senior Vice President in charge of customer operations and Engineering of the Corporation and he admitted that the South Asian beams are still working for the terrorist group.

Although Intelsat claimed that the terrorist group was pirating their satellite this correspondent could not find any evidence that it could be possible with Intelsat 12 satellite and the LTTE in a statement denied that they were pirates.
