A tale of two terrorists

Pushpa Kamal Dahal has shifted from the Prachandapath to the democratic path in Nepal. He was sworn in as Nepal's Prime Minister on Monday. Better known as Prachanda (the fierce one), Dahal waged a protracted bloody war which left thousands of people dead in a bid to create a communist state. He was responsible for turning a ragtag band of rebels into a fully equipped military outfit capable of bringing a government to its knees.

Prachandra was a terrorist with a difference, though. He was aware of limits to his violent campaign, which could not drag on forever. He was wise enough to choose the path of peace in 2006 and to win the hearts and minds of the people. The transition of the Maoist movement to mainstream politics was, by and large, smooth and in April, Prachanda secured the largest number of seats at the assembly elections. He, backed by several political parties, became the choice of the governing Constituent Assembly for premiership.

Prabhakaran and Prachanda, as well as their goals, are poles apart and their movements as different as chalk and cheese but Prachanda's transformation into a democrat as well as the subsequent cessation of mindless bloodletting should serve as a lesson for Prabhakaran and others embroiled in prolonged violent campaigns.

M.I.A. ACCUSED OF QUESTIONABLE LYRICS & ARTWORK USE: Sri Lankan/American hip-hop artist, DeLon, also links her to terrorist group.

Sri Lankan/American hip-hop artist, DeLon, questions Interscope recording artist, M.I.A. (Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam), for using images representative of the terrorist group, The Liberation Tiger Tamils of Eelam (LTTE).

The LTTE has long been recognized by the FBI as one of the deadliest terrorist groups in the world, and has been credited with the perfection of the use of suicide bombers, invention of the suicide belt, mass recruitment of child soldiers, and pioneering the use of women in suicide attacks.

The LTTE is only terrorist organization to have assassinated two world leaders.

On July 29, 2008, DeLon posted his remixed version of M.I.A's song, "Paper Planes" on YouTube. The educational video contained graphic evidence of M.I.A's imagery and usage of the symbols of the LTTE.

Within 12 hours of release, the video drew over 10,000 user views and comments. Hours later, Interscope under the Universal Music Group (UMG) umbrella, had the video removed from YouTube for "endangerment" of M.I.A.'s reputation as a "Freedom Fighter." Subsequently, DeLon is filing a lawsuit against UMG for infringement of his 1st Amendment rights. On July 31, 2008, the video was made available for download at: http://public.me.com/ceylonrecords and generated over 6,000 downloads in just 2 hours.

AUSTRALIAN LTTE FRONT TO SCREEN A FILM TO PROMOTE SUICIDE TERRORISM

A Brisbane front organization of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) will be screening a documentary film promoting suicide terrorism in the Australian city, the Brisbane Activist Center has announced.

The center announced, “This fascinating documentary is an exceedingly rare, inside look at an organization that most of the world has blacklisted as a terrorist group.”
Made by the Norwegians , who are extremely sympathetic to the LTTE , the film has been described a strong argument for the suicide terrorism, which has been condemned flatly in the other parts of the world.

Entitled ,”My Daughter the Terrorist” the documentary film justifies the existence of the suicide terrorists called “Black Tigers” and is accused of telling one sided story about the most feared walking bombs whose most famous victim had been India’s former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who was killed by a woman suicide bomber at a place called Siriperumbudur, in the outskirts of the Tamil nadu city of Chennai.

Many suicide bombers have been found to be former child soldiers who had been kidnapped or taken without the will of their parents from their homes and schools, human rights activists have accused. The desolate children then eventually will be trained to be suicide bombers.

Man arrested for aiding Tamil terrorist group

For the first time in Canadian history, a man has been charged with terrorist financing for allegedly raising money for the Tamil Tigers, police said Monday.

"The funds were allegedly raised for the LTTE [Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam], which is a listed terrorist organization in Canada," said RCMP Supt. Lloyde Plante of B.C.'s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET).

"This is the first charge of this nature in Canada."

Prapaharan (Prapa) Thambithurai, 45, who lives in Toronto but was arrested on the weekend in Metro Vancouver, is charged with providing or making available property or services for terrorist purposes.

Asked to elaborate on the charge, Plante said: "He was soliciting funding that was to be utilized to support the LTTE, that was the allegation."

Hearing set for alleged Tamil Tiger conspirator

A Malton man charged in connection with a North American network that police allege provides weapons and other materials to a terrorist group in Sri Lanka has had a date set for his extradition hearing.

According to Justice Canada officials, Ramanan Mylvaganam, 30, will appear June 10 before a Federal Court judge as American authorities attempt to have him brought to the U.S. to face charges. Mylvaganam is expected to fight extradition.
Mylvaganam was arrested by RCMP on Aug. 22, 2006 at his Derry Rd. E. apartment. He was picked up on a provisional warrant at the request of U.S. authorities. One month later, he was granted bail.

"This whole ordeal has been a total shock to my family, especially my mother; she can't stop crying," Mylvaganam's brother, Raghu, said in an earlier interview.
Mylvaganam and four other Ontario men have been charged with one count each of conspiring to provide material support and resources to the Tamil Tigers, a political/military organization that has been waging war with the government of Sri Lanka since the 1970s. The group is trying to secure a separate state for the Tamil regions of the country.

In April 2006, the Tigers were added to Canada's official list of terrorist organizations.
In total, 12 men have been charged in the joint FBI-RCMP investigation into the alleged criminal organization.
The sweep also included arrests in Buffalo, San Jose, Seattle and Connecticut.

Army & Air Force Destroy LTTE Strongholds North of Manthai

AFTER FIERCE GUN BATTLE with Tiger terrorists, Army troops destroyed LTTE bunker line north of MANTHAI in MANNAR Saturday (8) around mid noon.

Tigers’ resistance was successfully overpowered by the advancing troops with ample air support of the Sri Lanka Air Force which used MI 24 gunship during the mission.

Army troops who mobilized artillery guns and armour tanks destroyed the bunker line and captured four terrorist bunkers. Ten LTTE cadres were confirmed killed and a large number injured due to the attack launched by Army and Air Force.

During the confrontation two soldiers were killed while four others sustained injuries. The injured soldiers were rushed for medical treatments.

Clearing operations in the area commenced.

Former Local Councilor Murdered

Two motorbike-riding gunmen, believed to be Tiger terrorists, Tuesday (26) around 5.30 p.m. have shot and killed a former Local Council (Pradeshiya Sabha) member in the general area of UPPUVELI, TRINCOMALEE. The victim, GOPAL KONESWARARAJA (32) of Farm road, SELVANAYAGAMPURA, was with one of his relatives when he was gunned down.

The victim according to the Police has been making his living on a day today basis visiting various places in the area.

The reason behind the killing is yet to be revealed.

The UPPUVELI Police are conducting investigations.

Security Forces about to reach Madhu Church!

Security Forces engaged in operations in Mannar Yodawewa area is only 1.5 km away from Madhu Church say security sources.

According to information from security sections, the 57th Brigade of S.L. Army engaged in operations from Mannar towards Wanni have seized a large territory in the jungle in Uilankulama area adjacent to Madhu Church after a fierce battle that continued from last evening to this morning.

6 terrorists were killed in the battle.

Madhu Church is only 1.5 km away from this jungle state troops engaged in the operation.

Terrorist Camp in Kiranchi Bombed

Air force fighter jets, now actively engaged in the fight against terrorism, pounded one more Sea Tiger camp in KIRANCHI, about 9 km south of DEVIL point, west of KILINOCHCHI this morning (23) at about 8.15 a.m.

The Sea Tiger camp where suicide craft and other terrorist equipment are kept stored was extensively damaged in the aerial attack, according to Air Force pilots.
Air Force fighter craft on Thursday (21) extended their air cover to the ground troops marching forward in WANNI and MULLAITHIVU.

Three soldiers die in terrorist attack

Three soldiers who were on route picket duties died when terrorists attacked them in near Galge on Buttala - Kataragama road today (20) around 11.00 a.m.

In a confrontation terrorists have fled with their injured and the soldiers who rushed from the nearby Camp are pursuing them.

Troops Bag More Areas in Mannar

Troops,now triumphantly storming areas hitherto held by Tiger terrorists in the eastern part of MANNAR area in ANDANKULAM, to the north of GIANT TANK this morning (18) around 5.30 a.m. captured an area of about 600 sq m with an LTTE defence line and a strongly- built bund.

Ten Tiger terrorists who resisted the move lost their lives in the surprise attack. At least ten more Tigers received injuries in the skirmishes.

The clashes let the troops re-gain the area after so many years. Six terrorist dead bodies and three T-56 weapons were recovered by the troops later on.

One valiant soldier paid the supreme sacrifice during the fight for supremacy in the area.

Four soldiers received injuries in the fighting.Troops are now consolidating their positions.

Air Force jets pound Sea Tiger Training bases

Air Force jet aircraft pounded a LTTE Sea Tiger terrorist training base in the NAYARU area, MULLAITIVU and a Forward Operational Training Base in the WELIOYA area today (15) around 8.30 in the morning.

The aircraft pilots who launched the attack confirmed that the air strikes successfully targeted targets resulting in severe damage to the terrorist training bases and facilities.

The air strike was successfully launched on ground information as well as air observation.

Sri Lanka Air Force Bombs LTTE “Raddha base”

Today (14), at around 10.30a.m, Sri Lanka Air force Fighter jets bombed a LTTE military base called “Raddha base” located in Teravilkulam, North East of Vishvamadukulam, It is one of the major LTTE terrorist bases in the area.

The air attack on the base was executed preciously using real time ground intelligence information, There fore the surprise attack left no time space for the LTTE terrorists to be prepared for any counter measures.

Fighter pilots confirmed the target was accurately hit and destroyed.

The UNO and international and local human rights organizations maintain a calculating silence over the tiger terrorist attack on St. Sebastian’s Church at Kalladi in Mannar says Brig, Udaya Nanayakkara, military spokesman.

Making a statement to the media Army spokesman regarding the terrorist attack on Kalladi church said, “Tiger terrorist carried out a mortar attack on St. Sebastian’s Church at Kalladi yesterday. 6 soldiers engaged in clearing the church premises of shrubs and weeds were killed in the attack and 10 others were injured. The church too was badly damaged in the attack.

The UNO, international and local human rights organizations and religious groups that denounce the Security Forces even at the attacks carried out by tiger organization and blame security forces for such attacks have not made any response regarding the attack on the church.”

Bombers may use 'pregnancy prosthetics'

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is reminding law-enforcement officials of the increased use of female suicide bombers worldwide, and warning that women terrorists might hide explosives in devices “that mimic the look of a pregnant woman.”

The unclassified DHS threat assessment, released Monday and obtained by NBC News, shows photographs of “pregnancy prosthetics,” hollowed-out devices that could hold explosive devices. The report says “female suicide bombers have used devices that make them appear pregnant to hide explosive devices.”

The DHS report states that terrorists are using female bombers more frequently, in part because these attacks generate “more widespread media exposure.” It adds: “Continued use of female suicide bombers-the most recent example being a 3 February 2008 attack at the main railway station in Colombo, Sri Lanka-indicates that terrorists judge this tactic as effective in increasing defenses and thwarting security measures.”

LTTE terrorists fire mortars at Sampathnuwara hospital; four injured - Welioya

LTTE terrorists have fired mortars targeting the Sampathnuwara hospital this afternoon (February 8), defence sources said.

Three civilians and a female Homeguard have suffered injuries when few mortar rounds fell close to the hospital and the "Mahaweli office" around 12.45.p.m, the sources said.

The injured have been transferred to Padaviya hospital.

Thirty LTTE bunkers destroyed,12 terrorists killed

Thirty LTTE bunkers were completely destroyed this morning (06). When Army troops launched an attack between 5.50 a.m. and 6.30 a.m.

Four LTTE bunkers in NAGARKOVIL ten in the North of A - 9 route, and 16 in KILALI were destroyed.

Troops used T 55 tanks in the NAGARKOVIL attack. Twelve terrorists were killed and a large number were injured in the encounter. Five soldiers were injured.

During Search operations, troops recovered a MPMG weapon, T 56 Weapon, 5 Magazines and some military equipments.

LTTE carnage continues ; 13 civilians killed 16 injured in a claymore blast - Ethawatunwewa

LTTE terrorists have carried out a cowardly claymore blast targeting a civilian bus at Ethawatunuwewa around 3.50, this evening. According to the defence sources in the area, the terrorists have targeted a state owned public transport bus that was playing from Anudradhapura to Janakapura at a location close to "Kobbakaduwa Junction".

13 civilians have been killed and 16 others including children injured in the explosion. According to the hospital sources the victims have been initially taken to Padaviya hospital. Six out of them, including two children have been transferred to the Anuradhapura Hospital. Two among the dead are women, the sources added.

LTTE is a ruthless terrorist outfit fighting for a mono ethnic separate homeland for the Tamils living in Sri Lanka since 1983. Led by its psychopathic leader, V.Prabhakaran, the outfit routinely carryout civilian massacres in pursuit of its utopian state of Tamil Eelam.

LTTE is infamous for attacking soft target such as infants, schoolchildren, pregnant women, elderly persons etc in its regular genocides. Yesterday, it massacred six students of a school base ball team when one of its brainwashed suicide bomber exploded herself at the Colombo railway station.

HR bodies wake up !

The LTTE terrorists have again showed their true colours. Their cruel and inhuman mentality was again proved yesterday with the latest terror act - a bus bomb explosion in Dambulla.

Rejecting all peace efforts, the world's most ruthless terrorist organisation has again killed innocent civilians, who were on a pilgrimage. Saturday's merciless act should be an eye opener to all, especially those who make a big hue and cry on human rights.

They should voice strongly to protect human rights of those innocent civilians who have become victims of Velupillai Prabhakaran's barbaric acts.

The time is now opportune to conduct an universal operation to eradicate terrorism. We should not let a group of terrorists kill innocent civilians under the guise of so-called liberation or human rights.

We urge the international community and all human rights organisations to support Sri Lanka's battle against terrorism because we strongly believe that terrorism in any corner of the globe is terrorism!

Innocent Passengers, Latest LTTE Target

Twenty passengers, fourteen female and six male on a KANDY– ANURADHAPURA bus at DAMBULLA bus stand were killed and fifty badly injured when suspected Tiger terrorists detonated explosive device.

Initial reports said the bus was about to start of when the blast occurred.
