Another time bomb found in Kandy

Police personnel of Wattegama police station have found a time bomb placed near an electric transformer at Madawala Junction this morning (May 25).

According the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS), the bomb has been discovered by the police around 9.20 am on information provided by a vigilant civilian. The army bomb disposal team has defused the bomb. The weight of the bomb is about 1kg, said the sources.

Police investigations are in progress.

Another time bomb defused

A time bomb weighing 03 kg was detected in a COLOMBO - MORATUWA bus and defused by the Army bomb disposal unit today(24) around 8.45 p.m.

A woman passenger had noticed the suspicious parcel. The Army bomb disposal unit was informed and the parcel identified as a time bomb and defused.

The vigilance of the woman passenger had foiled the terrorists attempt and prevented a carnage.

Terror bomb attack at civilians averted- Ganemulla

Sri Lanka Police Special Task Force (STF) bomb disposal team defused a time bomb weighing 1.25 kg this evening found in a public transport bus at Kossinna in Ganemulla (May 24) . According to the defence sources, the conductor of the bus who initially detected the ownerless parcel has thrown it out of the bus at a remote location. Then he has alerted the STF on the suspected parcel, the sources said.

The bomb was found in the bus that was due to leave Colombo from Parakandeniya. According to the sources, there were no passengers in the bus when the conductor detected the suspected parcel found under one of the passenger seats.

Vigilant civilians avert terrorists attack - Galgamuwa

A cowardly bloodbath planned by LTTE terrorists was foiled as vigilant civilians in the Galgamuwa town, found a bomb inside a crowded bus stand this morning. According to the police sources in the area two T-81mm mortar bombs were found trapped with a timer around 6 am. The timer had been fixed to explode the bombs around 7.30 am when some 7000 schoolchildren throng into the area, said the sources.

According to the police, "the bombs were wrapped in a brown paper sheets and placed inside a cardboard box as to show it as a gift pack. Unless for the vigilant civilians and for the efficient police officers in the area, hundreds of civilians including schoolchildren would have been killed, the sources added.

LTTE is a ruthless terrorist organization fighting for a mono ethnic separate homeland for Tamils in Sri Lanka since 1983. The outfit's most favoured target in it s cowardly attacks has been civilians, particularly the women and children. The outfit has murdered tens and thousands of innocent civilians in village massacres, bus bombings, train bombings, and suicide bomb attacks.

Bombs found in Sri Lankan capital

Sri Lankan police said Wednesday that they had found a dozen bombs hidden in a building in the capital Colombo and arrested two people in connection with the incident.

"We did a search operation in Kotahena Jampettah Street Tuesday night and found the bombs hidden in a building," a police spokesman said.

The police said that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels may have transported the bombs to the capital.

The police in the capital carry out sudden security operations in the city to ban suspected accomplices of LTTE rebels arriving from north and east.

Time bomb diffused which has been timed to set off within 10 minutes at Delkanda

Police found a claymore type bomb which has been timed to set off within 10 minutes at Delkanda "Pola" (market) at 1.30 this afternoon. The police made this discovery when a vigilant civilian gave information to the Mirihana Police on the presence of a suspected parcel at the Market. The Army bomb disposal team has rushed to the location and diffused the bomb averting a major bloodbath.

According to the available information the bomb is weighing 8Kgs and has been made using C4 high explosives. Police said that the LTTE terrorists have planted the bomb targeting the innocent civilians.

Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksa is also scheduled arrive the area to participate for the public meeting of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
