1250 litres of Acetic acid seized -Rameswaram

Police seized 1250 litres of Acetic acid meant for smuggling to Sri Lanka for the LTTE, hidden in a defunct coir factory at Thoppu Valasai coastal hamlet in Uchchipuli, here today.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the factory and recovered 25 cans containing the acid from a cement tank.

The acetic acid was used for cleaning the rust formed in assault rifles, pistols and other arms, police sources said.
