Heavy Fighting Erupts in Muhamale

FIERCE ROUNDS of gun-battles that ensued in and around the Forward Defence Line (FDL) in MUHAMALE this morning (5) around 9.45 a.m. after Tiger terrorists fired artillery and mortars brought about losses to the terrorists.

Troops mobilized heavy guns in response and repulsed the attack killing at least ten Tiger terrorists including two of their leaders. Reports said at least fifty more terrorists were injured in the retaliation, carried out by the troops.

Troops recovered one terrorist dead body during the subsequent search.

Two soldiers sacrificed their lives and fourteen others received injuries in the LTTE fire. One soldier in the meantime had gone missing.
